An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Uro‑Oncology Nurse, at Band 6 or 7, to join our team to provide support, patient education and advice to patients with prostate cancer, from diagnosis, through treatment and follow‑up.
This part‑time role will predominantly be based at our Sutton site; however, cross‑site cover at Chelsea or our other sites may be required. The post holder will provide nursing support and advice for patients, wards and colleagues.
The successful post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills and a professional manner, be able to prioritise & organise their workload and work well under pressure.
Responsibilities
* Provide support, patient education and advice to patients with prostate cancer from diagnosis through treatment and follow‑up.
* Offer nursing support and advice for patients, wards and colleagues.
* Provide professional and clinical leadership, acting as a resource & consultant to supply information and support to patients, carers and staff.
* Liaise effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve a synchronised specialist service.
* Develop or contribute to the formulation of patient information.
* Develop or contribute to the formulation of policies.
* Provide informal and formal teaching for patients, staff and carers, including academic courses provided by the School.
* Sustain a high‑quality specialist service for patients from diagnosis through all stages of the disease, offering support, education and counselling on treatment‑related issues.
* Collaborate with Cancer Care teams and primary/acute care providers to ensure a streamlined, patient‑centred care pathway.
* In partnership with the Lead Nurse, Lead CNS, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists, formulate, revise and regularly review relevant policies and guidelines.
* Sustain a high‑quality specialist service for patients suffering from side effects of cancer treatments.
