Governance Lead & Registrar
Salary: £45,000– £50,000 FTE
I am working with a long-established higher education institution that is seeking to appoint a Governance Lead & Registrar. This is a senior leadership role, central to the effective governance, compliance, and academic administration of the organisation.
The Role
As the lead governance officer, the successful candidate will:
* Provide authoritative advice on governance, legislation, and policy.
* Act as Registrar, maintaining accurate records and overseeing Fellowship/academic processes.
* Serve as Secretary to governing bodies and committees, preparing agendas, minutes, and managing compliance.
* Ensure regulatory compliance, including charity law and data protection.
* Lead and contribute to strategic governance projects.
This is a high-profile role requiring discretion, political sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively with trustees, senior academics, and professional colleagues.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring:
* A degree (or equivalent experience).
* Significant experience in governance within higher education, charity, legal, or public sectors.
* Strong knowledge of charity governance and compliance frameworks.
* Excellent organisational, drafting, and digital skills.
* The ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholders.
Desirable: legal training, knowledge of higher education governance structures, or experience in data protection compliance.
