As a Member Of The Transition Pool, You'll Benefit From a Supportive And Personalized Onboarding Process, Starting With An 8-week Orientation Program Designed To Set You Up For Success. Here's How It Works

Spend your first 4 weeks on a Medicine/Surgical unit, where you'll work closely with a consistent mentor to build your foundation.

After that, dive into a variety of specialized units, including Sills 3 (Acute Stroke/Rehab), Sills 4 (Complex Continuing Care), BSTU (Behavioral Support), and TCU (Transitional Care Unit).

Attend a Medicine Orientation Skills Day to further enhance your knowledge and confidence.

Required

* Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
* Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
* Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)

Duties

* Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
* Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
* Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
* Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
* Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
* Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annul training and education as indicated.
* Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
* Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures.
* Adapts and adheres to the values of QH while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
* Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands Analysis
Strength

* Required Sporadically – average under 30 pounds lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling.
* Required in extreme emergency – 100 pounds.

Mobility

* Required Often – standing.
* Required Frequently – sitting, walking, on hard floor surface.
* Required Occasionally - stooping, lateral bending, foot activation, kneeling, bending.
* Required Rarely - crouching, squatting.

Dexterity

* Required Frequently – both hands for reaching, reaching above shoulder, fine finger movement, foot action, pinching, gripping/grasping, and eye/hand coordination.
