Locum Consultant Paediatrician with an interest in Neonates

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and committed Paediatrician, who will join our established team of general paediatricians. We are seeking applicants with an interest in neonates but additional special interests will be considered.
Safeguarding
The Neonatal Unit is a level 2 or 'Local' neonatal unit part of EMNODN, designated to provide intensive care for gestations twenty‑seven weeks and above. Cots: 2 intensive care, 6 high dependency, 8 special care.
The post has clinical responsibilities covering services to children within the Acute Trust in conjunction with other Consultants working as a team providing elective and emergency children's acute service for children of North Northamptonshire.
Main duties of the job
The locum consultant will join the team to deliver a high quality emergency and elective neonatal/ paediatric service.
Scope to enhance and further develop the sub‑speciality service delivery alongside transformation programme. A group model helps enhance collaborative working as a county wide approach to speciality services with increased opportunity with a larger case mix, opportunities for research and enhancing excellence in paediatric care.
Participation with consultant colleagues in clinical governance arrangements for the NICU, general paediatrics, safeguarding and areas of special interest to develop practice and buttress existing frameworks is essential.
Job responsibilities
The consultants operate a Paediatrician/ neonatal consultant of the week rota for the Children's wards. Paediatrician of the week responsible for all paediatric in‑patient admissions during the week and for all Paediatric emergencies during regular working hours, with out of hours on‑call shared amongst the consultant colleagues. Attendance at morning and evening handover expected. Clinics cancelled during the Duty Paediatrician week to provide full ward / emergency cover.
Separate consultant covering the neonatal unit 9 AM to 5 PM during working week and split oncall rota. Neonatal consultant resident oncall 5-7pm and non‑resident till 0900 hrs the following day, available to attend any emergencies.
All paediatric and neonatal consultants partake in a shared rota covering paediatric assessment unit 0900-1700hrs; 5 days/ wk.
Person Specification
Education, Training & Qualifications
* Full registration with GMC and Licence to Practice
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* MRCPCH or equivalent CCT in paediatrics (or within 6 months of interview) or equivalent
* Current certification APLS and NLS
Knowledge & Experience
* Effective participation in clinical audit
* Experience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level
* Specialist interest to complement those of other consultants in the department
* Publications in recognised journals
Skills
* Good organisational skills
* Experience of management/leadership including service improvement
* Works well within a multidisciplinary environment

Salary £113,565 to £150,569 a year plus on-call.
