LOCUM SPECIALTY GRADE DOCTOR - OPHTHALMOLOGY
The appointment is for a locum specialty doctor post in Ophthalmology. This is short-term post until end of August 2025, working predominantly with our medical and surgical retina team as well as uveitis team.
This post is designed as a post CCST position but those nearing completion of their specialist training programme or equivalent will be considered. Please note however that the period may not be accredited for CCST training by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
The duties will be undertaken at the Queens Medical Centre Campus site of NUH.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to gain extensive experience working within a busy ophthalmic teaching department that provides Eye Casualty, inpatient and outpatient services which include a comprehensive range of sub specialties. The successful candidate will be a key member of an enthusiastic team of medical staff providing a quality service to a busy department.
As part of our commitment to provide the best care to our patients, we will in the near future be extending our Ophthalmology service to include some evening and weekend work. As a member of the team you will be expected to participate in the provision of this extended service on a rota basis.
Working predominately with the medical and surgical retina team, the main commitment of the post will be to surgical and medical retina but the applicant will be expected to deliver appropriate care to patients with other eye conditions where necessary. This will provide the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment.
The applicants will also need to run occasional adult and paediatric uveitis clinic with Ms Archana Pradeep. They will also manage at least 1 laser session per week

Qualifications
* Full GMC registration
* FRCOphth Part 1 or equivalent
Skills
* 4 years at StR level Ophthalmology or equivalent
* Experience of working within a Ophthalmology Service with experience in Vitreo-Retinal, Medical Retina and general ophthalmology.
Communications
* Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
* Able to communicate effectively with patients, their families and other health professionals
Audit and Research
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit or research experience
