The main purpose of the role is to support children and young people with SEMH and additional SEND needs, many of whom have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences, to access learning and achieve positive outcomes. Working within a trauma and attachment-informed approach, the role helps ensure that the child is at the centre of all decision-making, alongside education staff, therapists, families and external agencies. Your responsibilities Responsibilities include: supporting pupils with complex and challenging behaviours delivering targeted learning support adapting communication and approaches to meet individual needs. The HLTA will provide consistent, flexible and nurturing support, work closely with multi-professional teams, and contribute to creating a safe, structured and supportive environment where pupils can regulate, engage and succeed. What you will need Proven experience working with children or young people, with a proven track record of positively impacting pupil outcomes HLTA status or working consistently within HLTA National Standards, with experience supporting teaching, learning and assessment alongside class teachers Willingness to deliver basic lessons to small groups, take on additional responsibilities, and engage in therapeutic training (including at least 12 sessions or a commitment to complete them) to enhance practice.
