EY is actively growing our Digital Engineering team in Belfast and are expanding our Business Analyst team. As a BA you will have work across a wide range of products that are transforming how our client’s work. Your key responsibilities
1. Work closely with product owners, architects, developers, and QA teams to translate complex business needs into clear, accurate functional/technical requirements
2. Create detailed artefacts such as user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows and API designs
3. Facilitate requirement‑gathering workshops, technical discussions, and backlog refinement sessions
4. Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure shared understanding and alignment
5. Work with delivery managers to refine the backlog, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of features.
6. Champion standards for requirements quality, documentation, traceability, and version control.
7. Support non‑functional requirement definition including performance, security, compliance, and scalability considerations.
Skills and attributes for success
8. Experience as a Technical BA or product analyst in a technology driven environment
9. Strong experience in translating complex business requirements into technical requirements for Engineers to consume. It would be advantageous to have experience working on backend microservices, impact analysis on API mapping and microservices
10. Hands‑on experience with tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, Confluence, JIRA, and Visio/MIRO.
11. Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts (, caching, event driven process, error handling, integration endpoints)
12. Experience working in Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, DevOps).
13. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
14. Ability to create clear documentation, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
15. Strong analytical mindset, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
16. Desired knowledge of front‑end and backend architectures to support design discussions effectively

Interview process:
If you are successful in your application, you will be invited to attend an in-person assessment centre towards the end of February. As part of the assessment centre, candidates will complete a 45minute assessment designed to evaluate their skillset (as outlined in the Skills and attributes for success section) and their ability to analyse technical scenarios. Candidates will be given a short scenario and a set of supporting artefacts (such as API specifications, process flows, logs, or business rules) and will be expected to interpret the requirements, identify gaps or assumptions, and write clear, well-structured user stories with acceptance criteria.
