Department for Continuing Education, Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JA £25,331 per annum About the role We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Chef in the Continuing Education Department. You will work with the kitchen team in all aspects of kitchen based mainly at: Rewley House and occasionally working at Ewert House, Summertown, Oxford OX2 7DD. Working under close supervision, the Apprentice Chef will assist with food preparation and general kitchen duties, developing skills across various sections of the kitchen. The role requires a commitment to high food standards, hygiene practices, and efficient service delivery in line with business demands. Responsibilities include preparing meals to specification, maintaining cleanliness, minimising food waste, and participating in stock management and food safety procedures. Flexibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are key to success in this role, which also involves occasional kitchen porter duties and active participation in training and staff meetings. The kitchen operates a seven day business and you will be rostered 4 days ( + 1 Day for study), shifts will be straight shifts and may start as early as 6.30am and finish as late as 9.30pm. About the apprenticeship As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Inspiro Learning LTD, where you will complete a Level 2 - Commis Chef. For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Continuing Education department at Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square OX1 2JA and occasionally at Ewert House, Summertown, Oxford OX2 7DD. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend study for a least 20% of your working hours and have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace. In total, it will take 22 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout, the contract of the position is for 2 years 3 months.
