Consultant Midwife- Clinical Effectiveness and Innovation

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, visionary Consultant Midwife to join our team at Sherwood Forest Hospital.

The role of the consultant midwife is to provide expert clinical care and leadership within the maternity service. By working in collaboration with the Head of Midwifery, Clinical Director and wider perinatal senior team, the Consultant Midwife will ensure there is effective leadership, education and training, practice and service development and research/evaluation within the maternity service.

The successful candidate will be an expert, autonomous practitioner of midwifery, a role model for midwives, a lead for midwifery research and practice development, and a reference for multi-professional colleagues. The Consultant Midwife will function as an expert midwifery advisor internally and externally.

Person Specification


Knowledge and experience

* Experienced Midwife with experience in a senior leadership role
* In depth understanding of maternity and neonatal national agendas
* Portfolio of evidence to demonstrate significant achievement in maternity care particularly with regards to leading service redesign
* Demonstrable ability to lead and drive teams of significant size
* Experience in setting up new functions/systems for entire divisions
* Experience of successfully delivering large scale projects which impact multiple staff groups and service areas
* Ability to manage the translation of strategic intent into operational reality
* In depth knowledge of programme and project management tools and techniques
* Knowledge and understanding of the provider health systems financial and commissioning processes


Qualifications

* NMC Registered Midwife
* Educated to masters level or with an equivalent level of specialist training and experience
* Independent non medical prescriber
* Professional Midwifery Advocate


Further Training

* Evidence of commitment to Continued Professional Development
* Evidence of leadership development
* Published in professional journals
* Presentations at local, regional and national events
* Evidence of contribution to original research

* Ability to develop business cases required to facilitate service change

* Able to travel independently to King's Mill Hospital and occasionally other venues in the county
