The team is responsible for delivering a front-line service. We deliver a variety of road safety and active travel initiatives to children, young people and adults who live, work or study in Cardiff.
About the job
The purpose of the job is to plan, support and deliver Streetwise training to children in Cardiff.
The training is predominantly delivered to year 6 pupils during the school day.
This is currently delivered by 2 members of staff working together at each school.
The training involves an interactive presentation to a class of year 6 pupils within their school, followed by practical training in small groups on roads near to their school. The pupils then receive a route planning session in class.
In addition to this, you will also plan, support and deliver child pedestrian training to children in Cardiff.
Where possible, we also carry out a shorter interactive presentation with year 1 pupils.
The training takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The post holder will also assist the Road Safety Team with other initiatives when needed.

Appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a Child Workforce Barred List check.
This role is part-time at 20 hours per week (split over 3 days), 39 weeks per year. The advertised salary is based on a full-time role (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). The actual salary will be lower than the advertised salary because of the part-time hours and weeks worked.
This post is temporary until 31/03/2027.
