Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a part‑time Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP New Hall in Wakefield. HMP New Hall is a female adult and young offenders institution offering medium‑level security with a population of 344 females. The Pharmacy team consists of one pharmacist, two dispensers and several pharmacy technicians. We have an in‑house pharmacy located in the healthcare department and the pharmacy technicians are also working on the wings.
Hours
* The role is based on 30 hours per week
* Monday – Friday: 6:45am – 6pm
* Weekends: 6:45am – 5pm
* 4‑week rolling rota
* 1 weekend in 4
Salary
This part‑time position offers an annual salary up to £34,428 – £41,658 FTE, pro‑rota, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
* Provide outstanding, patient‑centred care and act on patient feedback to personalise services.
* Ensure safe and secure medicines management, maintain medical records to the agreed standard, and follow SOPs to a high and orderly standard.
* Deliver non‑judgemental care within professional standards, including timely administration of medicines and cost‑effective prescribing as defined through our Health in Justice medicines policy.
* Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Essential Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD)
* Relevant post‑qualification pharmacy experience
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Able to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential)
