JOB DESCRIPTION – CLUB STEWARD/BAR MANAGER
This role includes 3 bed accommodation adjoined to the Club. The successful candidate is required to live in this accommodation for the duration of their employment.
Reports To: The Club Chairperson
Objectives
1. To deliver friendly, efficient customer service and to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all of our members and their guests. To manage the bar and club facilities. To supervise, train and motivate other paid staff.
2. Profit generated from the bar is fed directly back into the club – it pays for running costs, is used to improve the facilities and keeps membership fees and prices low. The Club Steward role is therefore extremely important, this person will be an integral person to the club's operations.

Main Responsibilities
1. Club Steward would be responsible for all aspects of the bar including stock, workforce and cleaning.
2. Deliver excellent customer service to users of the club facilities and maintain a high standard of customer management, at all times.
3. Maximise all sales opportunities in the club, including quality of drink service and availability, have an understanding of promotions and work with the committee to maximise sales at every opportunity.
4. Manage all areas of the club, bar, floor, cellar, to ensure that best practice is maintained by the team and that any areas requiring improvement may be identified promptly.
5. Take full responsibility for the set-up and effective operation of the club.
6. Ensure that opening and closing procedures are adhered to, in line with club opening/closing times, taking account of security and the health & safety of people and property.
7. Control all bar administration procedures and ensure that the bar team complies with club standards.
8. Be accountable for all cash management. Liaise with the Club Treasurer to conduct thorough investigations for all cash-loss issues.
9. Review accounts monthly with the Club Treasurer, agreeing on clear targets for improvements for any targets not achieved.
10. Plan all rotas in line with budgeted targets and forecasts, taking the necessary daily action to reduce/increase hours, in line with sales under direction of the committee.
11. Manage club bookings for events. Ensuring correct staffing levels are maintained to ensure customer satisfaction.
12. Manage all re-stock and delivery processes, including purchasing from the cash and carry, checking in orders, storage, stock rotation, timely stock counts, line cleaning, wastage reports, loss investigation and staff training.
13. Follow all security procedures, including loss prevention measures and procedures for the security of staff and premises, at all times.
14. Monitor and manage all day to day maintenance issues and manage third-party contractors, including cleaners, where applicable. Anything which goes beyond day to day maintenance should be raised promptly to the committee.
15. Be aware of and adhere to licensing, data protection, Health & Safety at Work and COSHH legislation, at all times.
16. Manage the day-to-day performance, attendance and training of staff.
Working Hours
Contractual hours are minimum 37 hours per week which includes operational hours, bar cleaning, stock taking and general admin.
There is flexibility within the working hours for the role which will be managed through timesheeting. The following core hours are applicable where the bar must be opened:
Monday to Thursday 5pm to 11.30pm
Friday and Saturday 12pm to 1am
Sunday 12pm to 10.30pm
All functions, live music nights and large sporting events are compulsory working hours for the Club Steward. There is an expectation for the Steward to be working Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
