Overview
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is the largest specialist orthopaedic Trust in the UK and the RNOH Stanmore site is the hospital’s advanced imaging centre. The post offers a band 7 radiographer a high‑quality clinical environment with a brand new Siemens X.Cite CT scanner and an upgraded Philips Elition X 3T MRI scanner.
Role
The post is based in the Scanning Department and will operate an extended day, 6‑day a week service that is planned to extend to 7 days. Weekend and out‑of‑hours working are an essential feature of the post. The band 7 radiographer will manage a diverse caseload of cross‑sectional imaging studies, deliver high quality images, support the flow of patients through the department and contribute to departmental audits and service improvements.
Responsibilities
* Produce high‑quality cross‑sectional orthopaedic images and adapt imaging techniques to meet complex patient requirements.
* Promptly protocol and order requests, liaise with clinical teams and radiologists and respond to MRI safety queries.
* Manage workload effectively, apply clinical knowledge and contribute to safe, patient‑focused service delivery.
* Respond to and diffuse any potential complaints or concerns and actively contribute to departmental audits and service improvements.
Leadership and Development
* Support and deputise for the scanning superintendent radiographer, gaining experience in managerial duties such as appraisals and recruitment.
* Develop further managerial skills through the Trust’s leadership and management training programmes.
