The Junior Estimator Role
PSR Solutions are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality earthworks and groundworks projects across the Midlands and surrounding areas. Due to continued growth and a healthy pipeline of work, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our commercial team. Responsibilities of the Junior Estimator
As an Junior Estimator, you will assist in the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of projects, including groundworks, earthworks, drainage, roads, and infrastructure packages. This role offers excellent exposure to the full tendering process and is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in construction estimating within a supportive and experienced team.
The Junior Estimator will
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions for a variety of civil engineering projects.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate quantities and pricing.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain up-to-date pricing and technical information.
Help prepare take-offs and Bills of Quantities using standard industry software.
Work closely with Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, and Project Managers to understand project requirements.
Maintain and update the estimating database and resource libraries.
Support in the handover of successful tenders to the delivery team.
Participate in tender review meetings and provide input as required.
The ideal Junior Estimator will be
Ideally educated to HNC/HND or Degree level in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar (or working towards).
Some experience in a construction or estimating environment is desirable but not essential - recent graduates or trainees welcome to apply.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard MS Office applications.
Experience with estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or similar) is beneficial but not essential - training provided.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Willingness to learn, develop, and take on increasing responsibility over time.
