Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team in managing day-to-day activities. This role involves working alongside regulatory reform initiatives and supporting the transition of the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The key duties and responsibilities are:
* Providing technical leadership in waste classification
* Leading Hazardous Waste compliance efforts and initiatives to improve compliance
* Enhancing leadership of priority waste streams
* Providing technical support focused on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
* Addressing regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra with circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
* Focusing on enforcement to support actions in the control strategy aimed at reducing offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation section of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.
