About your new role!
Eastcote is a popular family area practice with an established client base. You will be part of a settled team, including our lead vet who has been with Goddard Vet Group for over 12 years. The practice also serves as a training site for future RVN colleagues, with support provided through our Training College. As the sole RVN in the practice, there are additional accountabilities reflected in a higher RVN salary band. Leadership training can be provided, and you will work closely with your vet to help ensure the practice runs smoothly.
This role is 40 hours per week, inclusive of a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Sunday rotation at the nearby Mandeville Hospital in Northolt, with up to one bank holiday per year scheduled. There are NO on-call requirements for this position.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
* Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as required.
* Maintain a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
* Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
* Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
* Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
* Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with suppliers to required levels as necessary.
* Assist with the induction of new staff and their training.
* Provide reception duties as required, ensuring friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets (in person, by email, and over the telephone).
* Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.
Environment
OOH and emergency care is provided by Mandeville Hospital, which is 3 miles away and has state-of-the-art facilities including CT for best patient care when away from the home practice. The Eastcote environment is warm and sunny, flooded with natural light, and includes a large consulting room, theatre, kennel area and lab room. The practice is walking distance from Eastcote tube station (Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines) and local shops for a midday pick-me-up.
Salary and Benefits
* Full-time sole branch RVN salary band: £35,000 to £39,000 depending on experience.
* 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays.
