Senior Infrastructure Services Manager – VMware, Microsoft & Linux Platforms (High Security Clearance - DV)
Location: Erskine or Newcastle
Work Mode: Hybrid/Remote flexibility with 24x7 rotational support
Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled infrastructure leader with extensive experience across VMware, Microsoft, and Linux ecosystems. This role blends deep technical expertise with operational leadership, supporting enterprise-grade virtualization, cloud, and server platforms. You’ll manage complex incidents, drive automation, and ensure platform resilience across hybrid environments.
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national and hold or be eligible for high-level UK government security clearance (DV). Please note we can consider candidates from both Erskine or Newcastle locations.
Essential Job Functions
1. Provide expert technical support in infrastructure services, responding to complex issues and inquiries
2. Deliver L3 support for VMware environments: vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T/V, VCF, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid
3. Administer Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and troubleshoot OS-level issues, containers, and automation
4. Troubleshoot Microsoft platforms including Azure, SCCM/Intune, SQL Server, Active Directory, and Windows Server
5. Support VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and Aria Suite tools (vRealize Operations, Automation, Log Insight)
6. Assist in the implementation of infrastructure projects and initiatives, executing assigned tasks
7. Continuously monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure systems, ensuring optimal performance
8. Collaborate with the team to improve infrastructure efficiency and resolve technical challenges
9. Participate in the development of infrastructure documentation, including incident reports and configuration details
10. Apply deep technical knowledge and critical thinking to address complex infrastructure-related problems
11. Follow established best practices and standards in infrastructure service delivery
12. Coordinate with vendors (e.g., Microsoft) and internal stakeholders to meet SLA targets and minimize escalations
13. Participate in rotational 24x7 support and weekend standby for critical issues

14. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
15. Typically 5+ years of relevant work experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role
16. Proven experience in infrastructure technology analysis
17. Proficiencies in data analysis and problem-solving
18. A continuous learner who stays abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
Preferred:
19. Advanced degree in a relevant field
20. Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CompTIA Security+, VMware VCP, Microsoft Expert, or RHCE
21. Experience in secure environments or government contracts
