Clinical Support worker – 37.5 hours per week
Overview
An exciting fixed‑term 12‑month Band 3 Clinical Support worker position at Cockermouth Community Hospital. The role supports patients with complex needs in a community ward setting, working closely with health and social care colleagues to promote independence and facilitate hospital discharge.
Responsibilities
* Support the provision of high‑quality patient care in a multidisciplinary team, including delegated nursing and care duties under the direction of a registered health professional.
* Carry out clinical observations, record patient information, and support patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.
* Assess patients, plan and implement care plans, provide advice and education to patients, carers and colleagues, and maintain associated records.
* Work unsupervised when required, undertake routine nursing procedures, and manage long‑term conditions and reablement initiatives.
* Participate in shifts that include nights, weekends, bank holidays, and the rota to meet service needs.
Qualifications & Essential Criteria
* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
* National Care Certificate or commitment to complete during induction.
* Undertaking or willingness to complete a recognised Podiatry Assistant qualification or NVQ level 3 equivalent.
* Experience in a customer‑focused, caring environment.
* Ability to maintain and improve knowledge, skills and competence to deliver high standards of patient care.
* Understanding of confidentiality and competence in performing routine assessment elements.
Desirable Attributes
* Previous NHS employment.
* Experience using Trust IT systems (e.g., EMis Web, PAS, ICE).
* Knowledge of nursing policies and procedures and competence in performing physical skills (NEWS2, blood glucose, blood pressure).
* IT and keyboard skills, extended scope of practice relevant to the role.
