Responsibilities
The post holder will support the Urology Service by providing up-to-date knowledge of outpatient clinics and cancer targets. They will register new patients, respond to GP and patient queries, and schedule appointments using Trust systems such as full and partially booked appointments. Daily duties include answering telephone calls for appointments, managing a shared email inbox, and updating the Cancer Patient Tracking List (PTL).
* Ensure all phone calls are handled professionally and in line with local targets.
* Respond to patient enquiries in accordance with Trust standard operating procedures.
* Assist with modernisation projects that improve patient pathways.
* Maintain a multi‑skilled working role and assist across all department areas as required.
* Update patient records on all electronic systems while safeguarding confidentiality.
* Record patient cancellations immediately onto the Patient Access System (PAS) and any other system, noting the reason in the notes field.
* Adhere to the Trust Access Policy when patients do not keep appointments or delay treatment.
* Manage a direct, full and partial booking system by agreeing dates with patients, GPs or receptionists at the time of the call or in line with the electronic booking protocol.
* liaise with the team leader to communicate and highlight any problems, working as a customer‑focused team to resolve issues.
