Are you an Advanced Practitioner seeking an OOH Urgent Care role based in the Isle of Skye?
Position: Advanced Nurse/Paramedic Practitioner Band 7 Unscheduled Care, Isle of Skye
This post is suitable for a qualified Advanced Nurse/Paramedic Practitioner, ideally holding:
* A MSc level qualification in Advanced Practice
* Experience working within Primary Care OOHs or Emergency Care
* The capability to see, treat, and discharge undifferentiated presentations of illness and injury across the lifespan as a lone practitioner with access to remote support and supervision where needed
The Role
* The Advanced Practitioner provides unscheduled care across the Isle of Skye, primarily focused on out-of-hours Primary Care during evenings and weekends in North Skye. The role includes rotation to the Broadford Hospital A&E as service pressures allow.
* Work autonomously across Primary, Community, and Acute Services during in and out of hours, covering seven days including public holidays. Responsible for clinical decision-making, assessment, and treatment of patients across various care settings.
* Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT)/medical staff, including the OOH Hub and Acute Services. Communicate about patient follow-ups needed during normal hours.
* Provide assessment, clinical care, and management of both stable and acutely unwell patients and their families, making complex autonomous decisions using advanced skills and knowledge, with overall responsibility for care needs assessment and delivery of advanced care. Medical telehealth/telephone support will be available when needed.
* Supported to undertake clinical training such as ALS, ePILs, and BASICs.
This role includes 3.7 hours/week (pro-rata) SPA time.
Shift Patterns
* 12-hour shifts across 7 days, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
The Successful Candidate
You will be a registered and experienced healthcare professional with a proven record of continuing professional development. Ideally, you will hold MSc-level qualifications in Advanced Practice.
You will be a team player, self-aware, and ready to work within the community and with the multidisciplinary team that cares for it.
