Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care (Hospital)

This post is one year fixed term maternity cover 37.5 hours per week, 9am-5pm, including weekends and bank holidays
Main duties of the job
The CNS contributes to the provision of specialist palliative care in the acute hospital setting for patients facing life‑limiting illnesses, supporting the multidisciplinary team. The CNS accepts patient referrals within agreed criteria, manages a caseload with support from the Lead Nurse and Consultant Nurse, and provides advice, education, and support to patients, carers and other health and social care professionals. The CNS contributes to the development and smooth running of the service, working within professional, departmental, and Trust boundaries to deliver patient‑centered seamless care, and participates in a 7‑day / week service for hospital patients at Barnet Hospital.
Qualifications and Education
* Registered Nurse
* Degree in Palliative Care, Oncology, Critical Care, Long‑term condition or related speciality
* Teaching and assessing qualification and/or extensive teaching experience
* Master’s Degree in a relevant subject or willingness to study toward one
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Physical Assessment Course
* Non‑Medical Nurse Prescribing
* Advanced Communication Skills Course
* Counselling Skills
Previous Experience
* Experience as a senior nurse
* Experience caring for patients with advanced progressive illness
* Experience of autonomous and multi‑disciplinary working
* Experience in oncology, long‑term condition or palliative care settings
* Experience of mentorship
* Experience working in a learning environment
Knowledge and Skills
* Understanding and commitment to specialist palliative care

Salary: £55,524 to £62,652 per annum inclusive of HCAS
