Purchasing Assistant

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Working hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Location: Flintshire

Our client is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-driven individual with experience in a manufacturing environment. Reporting to the senior management team, you will be responsible for the daily purchasing and stock control requirements of the organization.

The company is a dynamic business with ambitious growth plans. All team members need to be flexible to adapt to changing business needs and procedures to capitalize on new opportunities. Collaboration with colleagues is essential to maintain control and maximize benefits from current and future business.


Performance Objectives

1. Purchase goods, materials, and services to meet operational needs, ensuring supply assurance, quality, service, and innovation.
2. Improve supplier provision, challenge costs and lead times.
3. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
4. Negotiate effectively with suppliers and contracts.
5. Be the first point of contact for suppliers, resolving delivery, quality, or service issues for raw materials.
6. Streamline and improve purchasing processes.
7. Maintain accurate supplier pricing.
8. Monitor stock levels and reordering points to ensure adequate supply and productivity.
9. Reduce supply risks.
10. Review supplier performance and conduct desktop audits to ensure compliance with the code of conduct.
11. Oversee customer supply chain requirements.
12. Forecast stock needs.
13. Collaborate with other departments.
14. Build and maintain effective relationships with staff, suppliers, and stakeholders.


Person Specification

1. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
2. Effective time management and prioritization abilities.
3. Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
4. Problem-solving, proactive attitude, and forward thinking.
5. Team player with the ability to work independently.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP systems.
7. Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
