Since 1934, we have been working to build a more equal society for women, a world where everyone has a safe roof over their head regardless of circumstance, where violence against women is no longer tolerated.We are now seeking a Mobile Support Worker to join us on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week for a fixed term contract until March 2026.The Benefits- Salary of £32,416.94 pro rata per annum- Attractive pension scheme- Perkbox- Buying and selling annual leave- Health Shield- Season Ticket loan- Subsidised gym membership- Course FundingThis is an inspiring opportunity for a compassionate individual with experience working with adults in a similar social care setting to join our committed organisation.You'll be at the forefront of our efforts to empower survivors, making a real difference in the lives of female survivors of domestic abuse and those leaving prison and providing them with the support they need to rebuild their lives and find safety and independence.Your work will not only enhance the wellbeing of those you support, but it will also contribute to our overall mission of building a more equal society where everyone feels safe and valued.The RoleAs a Mobile Support Worker, you will provide vital support to women experiencing domestic abuse, helping them navigate their journey from crisis to stability.Working across various supported housing services, you will cover short and medium-term staff vacancies to create a safe and empowering environment for women and their children, delivering a range of interventions that promote independence, safety and wellbeing.Managing a caseload of women experiencing DVA, escaping DVA or resettling following a release from prison, you will implement interventions and support measures, as part of integrated packages of wraparound support.One of the key objectives of the role is to advocate and empower your caseload to fully access welfare, legal, social and housing rights, assisting with welfare and benefits applications and access to healthcare and useful services.Additionally, you will:- Provide practical and emotional support- Manage housing including monitoring rent accounts and managing voids - Co-ordinating repairs and maintenanceAbout YouTo be considered as a Mobile Support Worker, you will need:- Experience working with adults in a related social care setting- Experience working in a support role promoting independence- Experience undertaking individual assessments including risk assessments and developing and delivering support plans- Experience of working in partnership with other agencies and the ability to build positive and productive working relationships- Up to date knowledge of legal rights (criminal and civil, housing rights and welfare rights for women who have experienced domestic violence and/or are leaving prison)- An understanding of local and national approaches to tackling domestic abuse- A qualification and relevant training on the issues around domestic violence and abuse, problematic substance misuse and the criminal justice systemYou will also need training in relevant topics, including:- Legal- Housing- Welfare rights- Safeguarding & POVACandidates interested in applying should attach a cover letter outlining how they meet the essential criteria specified in the person specification, as well as how they think they meet Housing for Women’s EPIC values.Other organisations may call this role DVA, IDVA, Domestic Violence Advisor, Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, Support Worker, Housing Support Worker, Refuge Support Worker, Refuge Support Officer, or Women’s Support Worker.Webrecruit and Housing for Women are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment.
