A lively, energetic young 6-year-old boy, living at home with his lovely family in Eyemouth requires a Carer/Support worker to work on an as required basis in the school holidays to support him and give his family a respite break. Ideally the perfect candidate would have experience with ADHD, Autism, in particular PDA, and sensory issues. The young boy is a very active lad and does not realise the dangers around him if he chooses to run across a road for example.
Terms
* Hours per week: variable but up to 40 hours per year
* Hours of work: This will vary and will be agreed with the employer.
* £14.05 per hour.
* Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
* Social mileage paid at 45p/mile
* Probationary period of 6 months
* Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership
Job Description
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
* To work flexibly with the family and agree upon hours that are suitable to both parties.
* To support a disabled young person to ensure their safety and well-being.
* To support with personal care needs if required, this might include support to change clothes if wet etc.
* To support with general care needs such as encouraging eating and drinking.
* To develop a positive relationship with the young person and his family.
* To interact with the young person and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy, in the home, but also in the local community.
* To work alongside a parent or another member of the team when required but to work independently too.
* To accompany the young person on short trips out of the house for appointments or social activities, possibly involving use of own car.

* A working knowledge of Autism and ADHD is essential.
* A knowledge of PDA and behaviour support is desirable but not essential as training and guidance can be provided.
* First Aid training: can be provided if necessary
