NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a fixed-term post until 10th November 2026.

The shift pattern for this post are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

Please be advised that, effective 1 April 2026, the full-time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.

The post forms part of the SCS Business Support Team and provides comprehensive support to Skye House. The post-holder will contribute / undertake a variety of ward clerk duties but will also be expected to undertake other ward duties in order to ensure the smooth running of the ward. The post-holder will work independently for much of the time and demonstrate a clear understanding of the service(s). The post involves being a friendly face while answering the door at Skye House as well as checking visitors coming in to see patients. The postholder will also be responsible for ordering of supplies, contacting of estates departments about repairs etc, putting away the weekly orders and ensuring stock levels are maintained. This will be done whilst working closely with the Senior Business Support Assistant providing updates and taking forward operational tasks as and when provided. Continual prioritisation of workload and the ability to be an effective team player is essential.

You must be able to demonstrate competency in the use of range of computer packages evidenced by experience or formal qualification e.g. ECDL and have a recognised qualification in Administration equivalent to HNC in Secretarial Studies or Business Administration, or SVQ in Administration at Level 3, or significant relevant equivalent practical experience. You should have a good knowledge of office procedures and systems and able to demonstrate prior experience of working in a secretarial or administrative role. Full induction and on-site training will be provided.
