Band 5 Radiology Nurse - Grange University Hospital - GUH
This post is a 12 Month- Fixed term contract to provide Maternity Leave Cover.

Are you interested in developing your nursing skills working with a highly skilled interventional team?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated nurse who is keen to pursue a career within clinical interventional Radiology and be part of a highly skilled team working across The Grange University Hospital at Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran and The Royal Gwent Hospital.
A comprehensive orientation programme, ongoing support and training is provided.
The role will include being part of the on call team, once all training and competencies have been achieved.
Working days Mon- Fri (4 x 8hr shifts and 1 x 5.5 hr shift), plus joining the on call rota for nights and weekends.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
* This role involves working within IR Theatre: working as a scrub assistant, acting as circulating nurse and monitoring and caring for patients undergoing a variety procedures.
* Working within the IR pre assessment clinic.
* Caring for patients within the IR day case ward and recovery area.
* This post involves working across sites at GUH and RGH and participating in a 24/7 on call rota.
* Working within radiology requires the wearing of personal protective equipment including the wearing of lead coats for significant periods of time.
* A comprehensive orientation programme, support and training is provided.
* To support a clinical environment that is patient and public focused.
* To assist in developing an environment which supports the value of nursing care within the radiology department.
* To take responsibility for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of a defined group of patients as appropriate.
* To liaise and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team in the planning and delivery of patient care.
* To be aware of and demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing.
* To participate in the formal monitoring of standards.
* To act as an advocate for patients and their significant others.
* To maintain accurate records/standards for documentation, including IT, data collection and input.
* To manage patients with complex needs and act as a resource for junior staff with these patients.
* A comprehensive orientation programme, support and training is provided.
