Position
Band 6 Paediatric Deputy Charge Nurse – Emergency Department, central London teaching hospital.
Location
Emergency Department, central London teaching hospital.
Responsibilities
* Lead the nursing staff during shifts, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
* Supervise and manage the nursing team, working in partnership with the Consultant in Charge.
* Support senior nurses and charge nurses in maintaining quality of care and meeting performance against Care Quality Indicators (CQIs).
* Ensure educational needs of the ED are met, including mentoring and precepting student nurses.
* Assist in the coordination of the ED response during major incidents (MAJAX).
* Act as a deputy for ward organization and management, providing leadership in the absence of the senior sister/charge nurse.
* Promote and implement the Trust’s Nursing & Midwifery strategy and Core Standards.
* Develop and implement audit, quality and risk-management initiatives.
* Teach, facilitate, mentor and precept student nurses, participating in clinical supervision programmes.

* People Management – provide nursing leadership, supervise team members, participate in recruitment and appraisal processes.
