Job Description
New Directions Education is seeking a proactive and confident Cover Supervisor to join a well-established secondary school in Southport. This role is ideal for candidates with strong school-based experience who are comfortable leading lessons and maintaining high standards of behaviour across KS3 and KS4.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom in the absence of the teacher, delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task. You will be expected to confidently manage behaviour, follow the school’s policies, and create a calm and purposeful learning atmosphere.
You will:
1. Supervise whole classes across a variety of subjects
2. Ensure work set by teaching staff is completed to a high standard
3. Manage behaviour effectively and assertively
4. Provide clear instructions and maintain classroom control
5. Report back to teaching staff on progress and any issues

About You
10. Previous experience working within a secondary school setting is essential
11. Confident commanding a classroom and leading from the front

14. Interested in progressing into teacher training or education long-term (desirable)
Requirements
15. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
16. Employment references covering the last 5 years
