Location: Exeter Police Station

Hours per week: This role is 26 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

About the role:

PURPOSE

To provide a professional and confidential administrative support service on behalf of PSD to identified customers including the public, police officers and police staff, the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Arranging the Misconduct hearing and meeting process. This includes liaison with various internal Depts, the IOPC and the College of Policing to ensure PSD Misconduct hearings and meetings are undertaken in line with legislation. Post hearings liaise with Legally Qualified Chair (LQC), College of Policing and media re publishing outcomes.

To work independently and act as the primary point of contact for Misconduct Hearings and Meetings. The logistics and coordination, and finally setting the date(s). This is not a generic coordination role as to do the above it needs to be done in line with legislative dates and thus knowledge of complex Police Conduct Regulations.

Undertake a number of specific administrative elements of the hearing and meeting process e.g. booking of rooms, availability of witnesses, availability of the Supt panel member/misconduct meeting Chair. Ensuring the recording equipment is set up, working and to administer this during proceedings.

Drafting of regulation notices for misconduct meetings for checking by the IO and supervisors. Collation of disclosure bundles that have been prepared by the IO. Complete templates for Panel chairs at Misconduct meetings. Regularly review the guidance documents provided to Misconduct meeting Chairs.

Coordination with witness, interested persons, officers/staff, Federation and FLS with regards to attendance and misconduct hearings and meetings. Setting a timetable of regulatory service dates for PSD/FLS/Fed to adhere to. Develop and maintain relationships with key people during misconduct processes, using clear communication and negotiation skills.
