Unit Role: To develop the leadership potential of selected university students and potential officers for the Army Reserve, raising awareness of the Army's ethos and building interest in its career opportunities; in order to secure their commitment, whether as officers or as future leaders in their chosen profession, to champion the Army in society. Position Role: 2IC Inter Coy - deliver the Alpha and Module Bravo Syllabus to selected Officer Cadets Responsibilities: Assist the Company commander to develop, lead and inspire Company Regular and Reserve SNCOs, Reserve Platoon Commanders, Under Officers and Officer Cadets. Assist the Company Commander to plan and execute the training programme, in accordance with the Modular process and CO’s annual Training Directive. Deputise for Company Commander in Commanding Coy and deliver effective support for Unit as required. In turn be prepared to act as PMC for the combined Mess. Assist unit in outreach programmes as necessary and available. Other duties as directed by the CO. UOTCs deliver a distributed RMAS syllabus with a small staff of mixed Regular, Reserve, FTRS and Civilians pers. This role is unique in that the Training Officer has many responsibilities not normally associated with the parallel post in a Reg or Army Res Unit. The Unit is a Reserve Phase 1 training establishment within the nuanced university space. All staff must be flexible and proactive in problem solving and risk management. Diplomacy and empathy are vital to lead a diverse team, balanced with the morale courage to maintain the highest standards. With limited staff, this post demands a flexible can-do approach to working practices, being prepared to assume responsibilities exceeding those typical of a Captain Any successful incumbent must understand and be the exemplar of the Army Leadership Code, which includes moral codes of conduct when dealing with people within vulnerable categories.
