Overview
You will be a chartered geotechnical engineer with a proven track record in technical leadership and project management. The role will include the mentoring of junior geotechnical engineers and therefore good communication skills are essential. You should have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnical subject and hold chartered status as either a civil engineer or geologist.
Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor geotechnical engineers, providing technical leadership and project management across a broad spectrum of sectors.
* Develop and expand our infrastructure or energy geotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of our expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.
* Engage in project management activities including client relationships, work planning and commercial management.
* Provide geotechnical design experience and numerical/analytical capabilities for structures, foundations, slopes and anchors using appropriate tools and workflows. Experience with general numerical software such as GeoStudio, Repute, Wallap, etc.
* Apply digital geotechnical engineering capabilities including the application of AI and machine learning in geotechnical design.
* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations in a design and ground investigation environment.
* Develop and lead geotechnical design teams with excellent interpersonal and technical skills; liaise with clients to support effective work winning and delivery.
* Demonstrate good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful projects to support "right first time" delivery. Produce high-quality reports with the ability to self-check and deliver accurate work.
* Willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas. Hold a valid UK driving license.
Qualifications and Skills
* Chartered status as a civil engineer or geologist; degree in civil engineering or geology with a postgraduate qualification in geotechnical subject.
* Proven experience of working in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
* Project management experience and an understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets.
* Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead geotechnical design teams.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise and build relationships with clients to support successful work delivery.
* Good report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
