ASCO Waste Management offers a fully integrated total waste management and industrial tank cleaning solution, ensuring compliance with safety standards. As a Technical Chemist, you will provide technical advice and support to ensure waste management complies with site permits, legislation, and customer requirements. This role is suitable for a recent graduate. Key responsibilities include:
1. Responding to enquiries from our UK-wide customer base and providing technical guidance.
2. Conducting technical assessments, including UK classification of hazardous waste per regulatory guidance (EA & SEPA).
3. Maintaining our internal waste and enquiry database.
4. Supporting the UK customer service team in developing sales and preparing delivery of sales quotes.
5. Ensuring all UK waste quotes comply with permits and licenses.
6. Collaborating with site managers and staff to ensure waste acceptance criteria are met.
7. Processing waste for storage and dispatch, managing relevant system data.
8. Supporting customers with Haz-packing and waste listing for transport.
9. Labeling and storing waste according to permits and legislation.
10. Routing waste streams to disposal sites within the UK, exploring new disposal options, and building relationships with third-party routes.
11. Supporting other business areas including Industrial Services and Logistics.
12. Occasional UK travel for site support, customer assistance, and training.
Minimum Competencies
* Effective communication and positive work relationships
* Proficiency in MS Office
* Ability to work under pressure
Minimum Qualifications
* HNC/D or Degree in Chemistry or related field
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of waste processes, permits, and legislation
* Understanding of waste management sector
* Working at Height certification
