The successful candidate will be based at our Dorset Hospice in Corfe Mullen, working in the Hospice, as well as across Dorset in the homes of the children and young people we look after. You will have the skills and experience required to care for children and young people with complex healthcare needs, as well as supporting end-of-life care.
Main duties of the job
Provide a high standard of holistic care (physical, emotional, social, and spiritual), play, and professional friendship to the child and their immediate and extended family. Ensure continuity of care by working both in the community and at Julias House Hospice as appropriate.
Be involved in planning and running activity sessions, including developing and maintaining activity packs, both in the Hospice and the community.
Develop, monitor, and maintain individualised programmes of activities tailored to the child's/young person's specific requirements.
Work flexibly alongside families, supporting them in the manner they choose, as appropriate to the role of a Julias House Care Team Member.
Take a proactive role in professional training and personal development.
Promote and maintain close relations and liaison with all care staff.
Work within the appropriate regulatory bodies' regulations and help maintain accurate records of methods, policies, and procedures for inspection.

Julias House is an award-winning children's hospice charity dedicated to bringing comfort and care to families across the two counties. Each family we support is unique, and so is the care we provide. When a family learns that their child has a very serious, life-limiting, or life-threatening medical condition, their world falls apart. Julias House exists to support these children and their families.
We offer a permanent contract, with a minimum of 20 hours per week, with the possibility of more hours. A full driving license and the use of a vehicle for business purposes are essential.

As a Care Team Member, you will be supported through an induction process and provided with any necessary specialist training to deliver high-quality care. If you haven't already completed the Care Certificate, you will be supported to achieve this qualification as part of the role.

* Experience working within a care environment.

* NVQ 2 / 3 in Care.
* Community-based experience, e.g., Sure Start, portage.
* Experience working within a play setting.
* Safeguarding Awareness Level 1.
