Accounts Administrator / Bookkeeper

About the Company:
We are working with a well-established construction company specialising in stone masonry and façade restoration across the UK. With a strong reputation for craftsmanship and quality, they are expanding their administrative team to support their growing operations. They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Administrator / Bookkeeper to manage their financial records and ensure compliance with industry-specific accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration using SAGE 50 Accounts
2. Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and in a timely manner
3. Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations
4. Administer CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) deductions and submissions
5. Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow reporting
6. Assist with payroll processing and subcontractor payments
7. Support month-end and year-end financial reporting
8. Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required
9. Maintain organised financial records and documentation
10. Provide general administrative support to the finance and operations teams
Requirements
Essential:
11. Proven experience in construction industry accounting
12. Strong understanding of CIS and VAT regulations
13. Proficiency in SAGE 50 Accounts
14. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
15. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Desirable:
16. AAT, ACCA, or similar accounting qualification
17. Experience with payroll and subcontractor management
18. Familiarity with project-based accounting and cost tracking
