Location: Blackburn (BB1 / BB2) Salary: £95.00 - £125.00 per day (Paid Weekly) Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30 (Term Time)

Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to kick start your career in Education or Mental Health?

We are seeking a high-calibre Psychology Graduate to work as a Specialist Mentor within an Alternative Provision in Blackburn. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on, front line experience supporting young people with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

If you are planning a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Speech & Language Therapy, this role will provide you with the essential experience required for your portfolio.

The Role

Theory into Practice: Apply your knowledge of child development, attachment theory, and behavioural psychology to support students who have disengaged from mainstream education.

Behaviour as Communication: Support students with challenging behaviours, using your understanding of mental health to de-escalate situations and identify triggers.

1:1 Intervention: Work closely with specific students to build self-esteem, improve emotional regulation, and assist with academic tasks.

Data & Reporting: Help monitor student progress and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings regarding student wellbeing.

The Provision

A supportive, fast-paced Alternative Provision in the heart of Blackburn.

Dedicated to students who require a bespoke approach to education outside of a traditional classroom.

Focused on a "nurture first" model, providing a safe space for vulnerable youth.

The Ideal Candidate

Degree: A BSc or BA in Psychology (or a related Social Science).

Resilience: The ability to stay calm and professional when faced with challenging behaviour and high-pressure situations.

Empathy: A deep-seated desire to understand the "why" behind a child's actions.

Reliability: Someone who can commit to an ASAP start and provide a consistent presence for our students.

Why Apply?

Highly Competitive Pay: £95 - £125 per day (based on experience).

Career Fast-Track: Invaluable experience for future Master's or Doctorate applications.

Professional Mentorship: Work alongside experienced SEN teachers and therapeutic staff.

How to Apply

If you are a Psychology Graduate ready to make a tangible difference in the Blackburn community, we want to hear from you.
