Job Description
We are seeking a Principal Safety Engineer to play a critical role. You will be responsible for implementing the GDUK Safety Policy within the Design Services Contract (DSC), other contracted projects, and internal product development. Your primary focus will be executing Safety Management Programmes to address both Functional and Non-Functional Safety aspects.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with extensive experience leading safety aspects of large programs, potentially across multiple projects. You should be capable of enhancing the company's safety capabilities, providing strategic safety leadership, and delivering innovative safety solutions in military land, sea, and air environments.
Your responsibilities include creating and managing Safety Plans and Safety & Environmental Cases according to GDUK processes. You will analyze software and hardware designs to identify hazards, causes, and consequences, and develop specific functional safety requirements and operational processes.

Full Job Description available here. To succeed, you should demonstrate broad and deep experience in Safety Engineering for large system-of-systems projects or possess equivalent transferable experience. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is highly desirable.

* Fault Tree and Event Tree Analysis skills
* Familiarity with Modular Safety Cases and GSN
* Knowledge of standards such as Def Stan 00-051, IEC 61508, DO-254, DO-178B/C, HAZOPS, SILs, and relevant legislation
* Environmental and safety legislative compliance

Salary range: £62,000 - £82,000 plus flexible benefits. Hybrid work options available. Benefits include a nine-day fortnight, personalized career development, and flexible working arrangements.
