Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulatory Officer - Field Based - 31634
The Regulatory Officer role is in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) team within Batteries, WEEE and Shipments, part of Environmental Markets and Regulation. The team is national with officers across England. National travel and overnight stays will be required.
We are looking for professional, enthusiastic people to regulate a range of businesses operating within the Producer Responsibility regime. You will ensure that producers, reprocessors and exporters of waste comply with their responsibilities.
Every day will be different, and you will be:
* Undertake audits (on-site and virtual)
* Take appropriate enforcement action when necessary
* Disrupt non-compliance
* Collate and analyse complex data to support evidence-based regulatory decisions
* Handle confidential and sensitive information in line with data protection guidelines
* Contribute to the development and improvement of processes and procedures
The role is varied, vital and challenging. You should be able to work as part of a dispersed team and be self-motivated and disciplined. We welcome flexible working patterns, including job share.

Team and environment: The team consists of Regulatory Officers, Senior Technical Officers, and Digital Specialists. The team is friendly, supportive and dedicated. We aim to improve recycling quality, monitor industry compliance and follow the Regulators code in delivering our work.
Experience/skills Required
We are looking for people with diverse experiences who can demonstrate the capabilities and interpersonal skills needed for the role. Waste industry or regulatory experience is not required, as full training is provided. You should enjoy working both outdoors and in an office environment. Demonstrating the right behaviours is important to us. You should be able to show that you are:
* effective, organised and able to prioritise
* rational and composed
* IT/computer literate
* comfortable with numbers and large data sets
* passionate about the environment and willing to learn about environmental regulation/enforcement
You should also be able to:
* handle confrontational situations
* adapt your communication style to suit others
* integrate into a team
* record information accurately
