Job Description

What if you could do the kind of work the world needs? At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

A Little More About Your Role…

Due to our expanding public and private sector workload, we are looking for an enthusiastic and inquisitive Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant with experience in the zero emission mobility arena to join the WSP Future Mobility team (part of our Transport Planning business). We welcome applicants from all around the UK.

Role

You can expect to be active on several projects and client accounts at any given time. Although the role has a zero emission focus, your work may cover a variety of areas of expertise. You will report to a senior member of our team with day-to-day tasks that include the following:

* Providing day-to-day support in the delivery of a range of projects, which at any one time could include a selection of the following:
o EV charging and funding bid support – such as supporting clients with their Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure bids
o Developing business cases for fleet decarbonisation
o Analysing EV charging opportunities for a city region or for a cluster of mobility hubs
* Leading and supporting projects, covering technical subject matter expertise and project management to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
* Applying strong analytical skills to critically evaluate and analyse data to provide robust recommendations, including numerical, geographical, and qualitative data.
* Supporting or leading the preparation of bids, fee proposals and project programmes.
* Working at both strategic and detailed levels with strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate confidently with clients, stakeholders and team members.
* Actively managing and leading efforts to build collaborative working relationships with clients and colleagues, contributing to the growth of the Future Mobility offer in your office and nationally.
* Being present in the office (hybrid working) and collaborating with colleagues across the UK and overseas.

Working closely with our Associates and Directors, you will support the professional development of junior staff and be an important member of the Future Mobility team. The role presents an excellent opportunity to progress your career and expand your professional horizons.

Your Team

Skills

We offer a variety of expertise, approaches and skills to support our public and private sector clients with their futures challenges in the mobility sector and beyond. Our team works across a range of areas including:

* Zero emission mobility, helping clients switch to electric, hydrogen and alternative fuelled vehicles.
* New modes and services, supporting clients to harness new technologies and business models in transport – from e-scooters and demand responsive transport, to cargo bikes and Mobility as a Service.
* Accessibility and inclusion, making transport more accessible through a human-centred approach.
* Policy and futures, horizon scanning to build future mobility into policies and strategies.

As a member of our team, you’ll have a chance to develop across a range of subjects and skill areas. The team includes town planners, economists, accountants, behavioural scientists, and transport planners with a multi-disciplinary portfolio of projects in the UK and abroad.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate you are:

* Enthusiastic and passionate about the future of mobility, improving transport options, and delivering high-quality work for our clients
* Curious, with analytical skills to deeply understand problems before identifying solutions
* Capable of developing bespoke approaches to support individual projects
* Able to understand key trends for future mobility and related sectors
* Able to work across a range of subject areas concurrently and switch context quickly
* Initiative-taking, willing to ask questions and add value to the team
* Excellent at report writing with clear, concise, and well-presented outputs
* Responsive and agile in delivering tasks, seeking details when needed and adapting to changing priorities
