Senior Social Worker – Court Assessment & Intervention Team

Job Title: Senior Social Worker – Court Assessment & Intervention Team
Specialism: Social Worker – Children’s (Court, CIN & CP)
Location: London Borough of Tower Hamlets, UK
Salary: £39.04 per hour
Type: Full Time (35 hours per week, Ongoing – Maternity Cover)

Perks and benefits

* Competitive Hourly Pay: Earn £39.04 per hour, reflecting the seniority and complexity of court-focused safeguarding work.
* Full-Time Hours: Work 35 hours per week, providing structure and continuity in complex case management.
* Office-Based Collaboration: Attend the office 2 days per week, supporting effective teamwork, case oversight, and joint decision-making.
* Supportive Service Environment: Join an experienced safeguarding service equipped to support practitioners managing high-risk cases.
* Meaningful Impact: Play a critical role protecting children and supporting families involved in long-term statutory intervention.

This role provides maternity cover for a permanent Social Worker and supports service capacity during a period of sustained demand. Due to high referral volumes from the Assessment & Intervention Team and increased pressures within the Family Support & Protection (FSP) service, the successful practitioner will hold a complex caseload that cannot be absorbed within the core team.

What you will do

* Manage a complex caseload of Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases requiring senior social work oversight.
* Undertake court-related work including Care Proceedings, Private Law Proceedings, and Private Fostering matters.
* Deliver frontline safeguarding services within the Family Support & Protection (FSP) framework.
* Complete high-quality assessments, reports, and evidence to support court processes and statutory decision-making.
* Work directly with children and families subject to long-term statutory intervention, ensuring safety and welfare remain paramount.
* Liaise closely with the Court Assessment & Intervention Team and multi‑agency partners.
* Contribute to strategy discussions, reviews, and planning meetings.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case records in line with statutory guidance and local authority standards.
