Stock Controller
Location: Trafford Park, Manchester
Salary: £30,541
The Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels in the Distribution Centre and trade operative vans, ensuring materials are available when needed to support efficient repairs and maintenance operations. This role focuses on improving first-time fix rates, optimising operative capacity, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
What you’ll be doing
* Prioritising and reviewing all operatives’ stock usage daily to determine van stock review schedules.
* Monitoring stock movements and maintaining system accuracy across the Distribution Centre and vans.
* Controlling stock rotation and conducting regular stock audits to ensure accuracy.
* Forecasting demand, planning reorder quantities, and setting/reviewing minimum and maximum stock levels.
* Investigating stock variances and discrepancies, escalating significant issues to managers.
* Communicating with repair operatives, Property Services Managers, and other stakeholders regarding stock needs.
* Preparing and replenishing operative van stock and managing new stock requirements.
* Producing accurate reports on stock levels, costs, and performance for management.
What you’ll need
* Experience in stock control within a busy Distribution Centre or inventory environment.
* Computer literacy, with proven proficiency in Excel essential; experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) desirable.
* Ability to analyse and manipulate data to inform stock decisions.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and ability to maintain safe working practices.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to complete tasks accurately under pressure, maintaining attention to detail.
* Product knowledge of building materials desirable.
* Forklift licence / experience desirable.
