An established and fast-growing fintech business, operating in the digital banking and financial inclusion space, is seeking a Managing Director to lead its next phase of accelerated expansion. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced MD with a proven track record in regulated consumer lending or retail banking to take full ownership of strategy, growth, and execution.
About the Role
This is a pivotal, hands-on leadership position requiring a commercially sharp, operationally strong, and strategically astute Managing Director. The successful candidate will lead from the front — driving revenue growth, scaling operations, and ensuring the highest regulatory and governance standards are met.
As MD, you will be accountable for P&L delivery, cultural leadership, and acting as the key interface with the board, investors, and regulators. The business requires a leader who can combine ambition with discipline: someone who thrives in a scale-up environment but also brings the credibility and rigour expected of a regulated financial services institution.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver a clear growth strategy for the business, aligned to board and investor objectives.
* Drive commercial performance, scaling revenue and profitability across multiple lending products.
* Ensure all activity operates to the highest standards of regulatory compliance in consumer lending/retail banking.
* Lead, mentor, and inspire a senior management team, embedding accountability and performance.
* Own P&L and balance sheet management, optimising margins and capital allocation.
* Represent the business externally with regulators, investors, and key partners.
* Shape and safeguard company culture: entrepreneurial, compliant, performance-driven.
What You Bring
* Proven leadership experience at Managing Director level in regulated consumer lending or retail banking (essential).
* Demonstrable track record of scaling and transforming a financial services business.
* Deep understanding of regulatory requirements (FCA) and experience operating at SMF level.
* Strong P&L ownership experience, with the ability to balance growth, profitability, and risk.
* Inspirational leader with excellent stakeholder management skills — board, investors, regulators, and staff.
* High energy, resilient, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly accountable environment.
