We are now looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Team Leader to join our collaborative Payroll function. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a motivated team and play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services for thousands of employees.
The Role
As Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the payroll team. You'll ensure compliance, drive process improvements, and support the Payroll Manager in delivering a best-in-class payroll service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of payroll administrators, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and deadlines met.
Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to statutory regulations.
Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and provide expert advice to internal stakeholders.
Monitor and review payroll controls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submissions (e.g., HMRC, pension providers).
Support continuous improvement initiatives and help drive automation within the payroll function.
Assist in the preparation of payroll reports and audits as required.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external providers to ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations.
About You
Proven experience in a similar payroll leadership or senior administrator role
In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, pensions, and statutory payments.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to lead, support and influence.
