Principal Pharmacist- Emergency and Urgent Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our established clinical pharmacy team supporting the emergency and urgent care services at the Broomfield Hospital site. This includes responsibility for the management of specialist clinical pharmacists, overseeing the delivery of pharmacy services to the wards and clinical pharmacy education and training.
You will be a key member of the pharmacy management team and works closely with other senior staff across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSE) to ensure the delivery of an integrated pharmacy service to all emergency departments and admissions areas across all sites. You will assist with all aspects of medicines optimisation, medicines safety and supply across MSE pertaining to emergency and urgent care.
Working closely with senior nursing and medical colleagues you will provide pharmaceutical input and advice on medicines management issues.
You will also get the opportunity to deputise for the site Head of Pharmacy and will provide cross-site professional support in relation to emergency and urgent care.

Main duties of the job
You will be primarily based at the Broomfield Hospital site, will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will work to provide excellent care to patients in acute and emergency medicine.
You will work as a team of 3 clinical lead pharmacists in the planning, delivery, development and monitoring of the clinical pharmacy service delivered to the Broomfield site, as well as the ongoing development of clinical pharmacists. You will have oversight of all areas of medicines optimisation within emergency and urgent care across MSE, plus all Department of Medicine specialties within the Broomfield site.
You will work with the Head of Pharmacy - Clinical Services and other clinical lead pharmacists across MSE to seek to identify and implement changes necessary to maintain a high-quality clinical pharmacy service across the Trust.
You will ideally be (or working towards being) a qualified independent prescriber having achieved a minimum of a clinical diploma in pharmacy practice (or equivalent).
The successful applicant will contribute to the evening, weekend and on-call rotas for Broomfield site.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy ( or equivalent )
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent Post Graduate Qualification
* Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Knowledge and Experience
* Work history and supporting information demonstrate understanding of NHS medicines commissioning
* Work history and supporting information demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and pharmaceutical skills
* Budgetary management experience
