A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Social Worker to join the newly formed Aftercare team within Fife Council’s Children & Families and Justice Directorate.

We are committed to prioritising and achieving best outcomes for care experienced young people in Fife. The new team will be keeping young people at the centre of planning and will be offering an intensive service to our care leaver population. This is an exciting opportunity to offer a flexible, innovative service, that will improve outcomes for young people.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You will be part of the newly formed After Care team who will offer trauma-informed, person-centred support. You will have an understanding around the impact of the care system.

The team will offer an intensive, responsive service to young people at times where they are experiencing difficulties. The work of the team will be centred on relationship-based practice rooted in building trusting, empathetic, and collaborative relationships with young people that promote positive change and resilience.

The core functions of a Social Worker are described below (not limited to below):

Ensure all young people leaving care have a pathway assessment and a pathway plan that is robust and able to meet their needs.

Establishing links across all Fife’s Residential Homes, building relationships with young people prior to them leaving care.

Offering an intensive/responsive service to young people experiencing difficulties/vulnerabilities. Undertaking thorough and informed comprehensive assessmentsof need and risk.

Assisting young people to re-establish birth family relationships.

Developing a support offering for care experienced parents. Which will involve building and establishing relationships with the Early Help and Support Teams/Enhanced Teams across the 7 localities in Fife.

Working with partners to create relationships and work together to explore creative solutions to improve outcomes for young people.

Deliver group work to respond to themes and patterns of assessed need within the care experienced community.

1. Working individually and/or collaboratively to produce plans to support young people and their families.

2. Assessing, managing, monitoring and reducing risks to service users and others

3. Contributing to complex assessments of need and risk with an aim of improving outcomes whenever possible.

4. Carrying a caseload with varying complexity, requiring specialist skills and knowledge to enable appropriate and effective responses to the needs/risks of service users.

5. Providing written reports as required, including informed recommendations concerning care/action plans.

6. Attending meetings and case reviews.

7. Updating and ensuring the accuracy of all relevant service user records and taking responsibility for the effective application of information management systems.

8. Engaging and working in partnership with service users, family members, Police, Health, statutory/voluntary agencies and others as appropriate.

What We’re Looking For:

The successful candidate will be Educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a Degree in Social Work or equivalent.

You are required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period.

You will be required to obtain a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership or Disclosure Check for this role
