Job Description Job Vacancy E2 Design Engineer, Kirkbymoorside Forum Energy Technologies (FET) is a world leader for the supply of Work Class ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), Observation Class ROVs, Trenchers and Submarine Rescue Systems providing innovative solutions for challenging deep water intervention operations. Design and manufacture of these systems is based at the facility at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire which is part of a worldwide company with headquarters in Houston, USA. These products are known worldwide for unrivalled quality and technical excellence utilising a wealth of experience, delivering products that perform reliably in hostile environments. Job purpose: To provide engineering design and support functions, under instruction of more senior engineers. Key Responsibilities: (Key Tasks) • Provide design input on projects, using the technical competencies listed below. • Produce engineering designs, specifications, and documentation to ISO 9001. • Assist in the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals. • Engineering support for new products. • Assist sales and marketing in the preparation of quotes and proposals. • Provide technical support to the production, logistics and integration departments. • Work within the requirements of company procedures and national and international regulations. • Work within the timescales and budgets set by the company. • Other activities as directed by the Engineering Manager. Accountabilities: (Deliverables) • Ensure the suitability of the engineering aspects of company products for their function. • Prompt replies to production, logistical and technical support questions. • Provide design input on all projects as required, within the timescales set by the company. Education/Qualifications: • HNC in design, mechanical, manufacturing or production engineering (Essential). • HND in engineering (Desirable). Technical Competencies (essential): • Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques, anodising, welding, heat treatment, painting, additive, machining, cutting, folding, and NDT requirements. • Assembly methods and maintenance. • Completing and checking designs and documentation. • Tolerancing, limits and fits. • Drawing layout and symbols. • Drawing and document control systems. Technical Competencies (desirable): • Mechanisms, kinematics, and power transmission. • Good theoretical understanding of material science for sub-sea use including galvanic and other • corrosion effects. • Oil, gas and water hydraulics, including sealing systems, e.g. O-rings, seals, hydraulic fittings, etc. • Inspection, testing and certification requirements. • Ergonomics. Key Skills (essential): • Safety conscious, attentive to QHS&E policies and regulations (ISO 9001 QA systems). • Sound engineering knowledge. • Cost consciousness. • Technical drawing competence as defined above. • Good verbal and written communication skills, clear technical writing, good record keeping. • Attention to detail and effective checking regime. • Software skills. Microsoft Office Suite, 2D and 3D CAD (e.g. AutoCAD/DraftSight, and SolidWorks). • Speed and accuracy of data input and filing. • Willingness to learn new engineering skills. Key Skills (desirable): • Flexibility, adaptability and professionalism, with the ability to work cooperatively as part of a multidiscipline team or individually on projects. • Time management with ability to plan work loadings, multi-task, and work under pressure. Experience (essential): • Engineering design environment, three years minimum. • Engineering shop floor experience. QHSE Competencies: • Maintain behaviour in compliance with FET HSE requirements. • Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour. • Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions immediately such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk.
