Senior Project Manager - Defence & Security

Overview
We are expanding our project management capability within our UK Defence team.
Responsibilities
* Operationally manage core projects or programmes to deliver defined objectives.
* Deliver your scope of work in line with budgetary, compliance, regulatory and planning controls; apply deep technical knowledge and broad business experience.
* Oversee an agreed scope of work and/or the operational workload of a team or contractors; ensure work is completed and resources are fully utilised to deliver against an agreed programme.
* Work within financial systems to independently produce plans and schedules and track budgets, highlighting variances to manage delivery targets.
* Deliver small to medium scale projects or programmes, ensuring appropriate use of resources and budgets to meet deadlines.
* Present project risks or issues to senior managers to prevent adverse impact and ensure compliant delivery.
* Provide advice on compliance processes and behaviours to internal and external stakeholders.
* Analyse data to identify themes and trends; use analysis to support project decision-making.
* Review and recommend improvements to project processes and policies to support senior management.
* Collaborate across the organisation to support delivery and meet internal customer expectations.
* Liaise with clients and stakeholders to keep all parties informed of progress and expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience actively supporting internal teams and managing junior staff on technically complex projects/programmes typically ranging between £5m and £150m.
* Ability to set project delivery approaches and plans in consultation with key stakeholders.
* Establish project delivery plans and control mechanisms to assure delivery.
* Performance management of project team/resources.
* Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues and developing leadership skills.
* Experience working with external stakeholders to build client relationships and manage business relationships at middle-management level.
* Ability to take a project from inception to completion and obtain BPSS clearance.
Desirable
* Experience in NEC Contract Suites.
* Knowledge of the Defence & Security sector (desirable but not essential).
* Ability to obtain SC and DV clearance.
