Be the first hire of this brand-new data engineering team and build it from the ground up.
First up, you’re going to need to have done something similar before within finance, ideally algorithmic or systematic trading, with ETFs.
You’re going to be given total autonomy to build the team in the way you want. You’ll work closely with the quant teams to understand their requirements, but data strategy will be down to you. Using the right technologies will be down to you. It’s a hands-on engineering role to begin with, with engineering leadership responsibilities in future.
The focus is on collecting and processing data that’s critical to the business, so you’re not going to be building data ingestion strategies for every piece of data you can find. There’ll be specific data types, looking at things like fundamentals, corporate actions, and index membership data, and more, depending on the strategy.
You’ll shape the future of data engineering here.
In terms of experience, as mentioned you’ll need to have built and led a team before within a data engineering focused role. Strong programming ability will of course be required, any language is fine. You will already have an idea of what will be best. Strong financial data experience will be required and it’s likely this will be from a trading environment.
This is a well-known, well-respected firm in the trading space. Along with being given the flexibility and autonomy to tread your own path here, you’ll earn up to $500,000 total compensation depending on your experience with a comprehensive benefits package. You will be taken care of in all ways you can think of.
