Job summary
Our Early Intervention in Psychosis service is expanding its offer of supporting young people with their recovery. Key to this is having support workers who can focus on running activities and interventions that promote opportunities in areas such as employment and education that are underpinned by young people feeling more confident and motivated to meet their individual goals.
You will work alongside clinicians from different disciplines as well as other senior support staff and peer support workers (staff with their own lived experience of mental health problems). As a team we will be working with young people to understand their goals and aspirations and you will play a key part in helping them meet these. This will include linking into local communities and build relationships with organisations that provide activity that that the young people we see may want to engage with and then supporting them to do this.

Main duties of the job
EIP is a multi - disciplinary Service and is offered across Birmingham. The age range is 16-35 years for young people who are referred following a first episode of psychosis.
Members of the EIP multi - disciplinary Service includes Consultant Psychiatrists, nursing, medical staff and Clinical Psychologists, support workers and peer support workers (staff with lived experience of mental health problems)
The post holder will be a required, to provide focused support/intervention /advice and identify existing community resources that support a young person on their recovery journey. significant part of the role is to work collaboratively with the other agencies who offer support and activities in community settings and work with the young person to promote engagement with these.
Families of the referred young people are included in the assessment and on- going management of the cases and the post holder will be a source of support and information to them.
