Job Description:

* About the role
* Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Delivery of ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
* Ownership of company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place and managed.
* Lead the Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness program to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
* Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in the company's safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies.
* Ensure incidents and accidents are thoroughly investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation based on severity, and liaise with external stakeholders like emergency services and media as needed.

About you
* At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
* Auditing qualifications and experience
* Environmental risk management qualifications
* Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
* A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
