Legal Assistant - Residential Property - Leicester
We are seeking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to our Residential Property team in our Leicester Office.
The successful Conveyancing Assistant will work alongside an experienced fee earner in a busy conveyancing environment. You will assist on a full and varied caseload of freehold / leasehold sales & purchase, re-mortgage, transfers of equity, right to buy, and shared ownership schemes from start to finish.
Responsibilities include:
1. Prepare and submit quotes to clients.
2. Deal with queries raised by clients, solicitors, lenders, and estate agents.
3. Provide client updates and monitor matter progression.
4. Open/close files on the case management system, compliant with the firm’s AML and quality standards, as well as SRA and CQS regulations.
5. Experience of Leasehold transactions.
6. Carry out searches online.
7. Use Land Registry portal to submit registrations, reply to requisitions, and order official copies, leases, and title plans.
8. Generate Stamp Duty Land Tax calculations and submit applications.
9. Prepare and submit bills, receipts, and payments to the finance team for fee earners.
10. Occasional reception cover.
Requirements for this role include:
1. Preferably previous work experience as a conveyancing assistant/secretary.
2. Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office.
3. Advanced computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
4. Working knowledge of case management software.
5. Proficiency in English.
6. Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
7. Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure.
8. Excellent attention to detail.
9. Basic understanding of the conveyancing process.
10. Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:15, with a one-hour lunch break (Office Based).
